A few weeks ago, I reported the sad news that Part and Parcel, a specialty market and sandwich shop at 17 Alfred St. in Biddeford, was closing Dec. 23.

A new establishment called Catface Café will be moving into 17 Alfred St. in the future. The owner responded to an email, stating that the cafe will focus on "specialty coffee, beer, wine and a Maine inspired lunch/weekend brunch menu with an elevated modern flare." According to the Catface Instagram page, the space will also be available for special events.

And no, it doesn’t appear to be a cat lounge, so don’t expect to meet any new four-legged friends there. The word catface, according to the Instagram page, means a partially healed scar on a tree or log.

Check out this column in the future for more information on the upcoming restaurant. In the meantime, Part and Parcel is running some specials as it winds down, including an oyster night on Dec. 22 and breakfast burritos for Dec. 23, its last morning.

It looks like a few local restaurants are on the market. Twin Cities Café, which has been a casual breakfast spot for more than 30 years at 48 Alfred St. in Biddeford is up for sale as a company and assets – no real estate is included in the deal. In Saco, the 6,800 square foot building at 512 Main St. that is currently home of Boomers Restaurant is for sale.
