In March, the City of Saco approved a policy for mobile food vendors to operate on city property in specific areas in Camp Ellis and the train station and downtown from April 1 to Dec. 1.

One food vendor that is taking advantage of this new policy is Ryan Compagna, who recently opened Weeners on Wheels, a hot dog cart at the Camp Ellis Pier. The menu is pretty straightforward, offering hot dogs and chili dogs, chips, and soda and water – the makings for a quick picnic lunch by the shore. Weeners on Wheels is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

A new summer farmers’ market is opening this weekend at Eggs Plus Farm, located at Jessica May Road in Dayton. The market will be open weekends in August, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with an array of products including farm fresh eggs, local produce, baked good and hand-crafted household items.
