Today may be Friday the 13th, but if you like doughnuts, it's your lucky day. Holy Donut opens today in Arundel.

Located at 1197 Portland Road (Route One), a little less than four miles south of the Biddeford city line, this is the local doughnut maker’s fourth location.

Holy Donut is a family-owned business that started in 2010 when founder Leigh Kellis tested recipes until she found the perfect one – her own version of a northern Maine recipe using riced potatoes.

The doughnut shop offers a large number of choices including the popular bacon maple and Holy Cannoli ginger glazed, vegan selections such as cinnamon sugar, and gluten-free varieties like chocolate coconut. And while you’re there, you can grab a cup of Wicked Joe organic coffee to pair with your sweet treat.

Holy Donut in Arundel is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., though the website advises to visit before noon for the best selection. Other Holy Donut shops are located at 194 Park Avenue and 177 Commercial Street in Portland and 398 Route One in Scarborough.
