Local Flavor: Free community dinners

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Looking for something to do on Sunday afternoon? Local community group OOB365 is hosting a free “Italian Feast” from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 14 Imperial St., Old Orchard Beach.

The menu will include lasagna, tortellini, stuffed breads and a dessert bar.

OOB365 has been putting on these community dinners for many years, and they know what they’re doing. I went to their turkey dinner in November, and the food was delicious and plentiful, and the desert table was endless.

Age Friendly Saco and Ferry Beach Retreat and Conference Center have partnered to deliver 350 free meals to the Old Orchard Beach, Saco and Biddeford communities on Feb. 13.

The meal will feature a chicken breast with tomato, garlic and basil; rice pilaf, green beans, a homemade dinner roll and mixed salad. A homemade cupcake with strawberry frosting will complete the dinner.

Community members can sign up online for up to four meals, which will be delivered between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 13. If you have questions or are unable to fill out the online form, call Ferry Beach at 207-282-4489.
