For 65 years, Anjon’s Italian restaurant was a fixture on 521 Route One, Scarborough, a short distance from the Saco city line.

The restaurant, with a view of the Scarborough Marsh, closed in 2019. A new Italian restaurant, Amore on the Marsh, opened at the location in 2020, but it has since closed.

John DiSanto, whose family ran Anjon’s for all of its years of business, announced recently on social media that he’s reopening Anjon’s at the original location on 521 Route One in Scarborough.

“Well it's official the cat is out of the bag I am reopening Anjon's Ristorante, I have missed it so much as much of you already know, and I wanna die there figuratively speaking and pass the legacy on to my family, I am shooting for a June 15th opening date it's gonna be tough but I think I can pull it off, working with a shoestring budget so I am looking for help with money to paint the building, inside and out, new point of sale system, pave parking lot, pots, pans, dishes and glassware etc. etc. anyone willing to help me will get VIP treatment for reservations and seating plus your money back at the end of the summer, private message me if you can help, buon appetito manjard and just FUHGEDDABOUDIT”

DiSanto is raising money for the reopening, and stated on social media that sponsors will receive VIP privileges at the restaurant and their names will be featured in the lobby. He said all sponsors will be paid back in September. On May 26 he said that he had received $10,000 toward his $30,000 goal.
