Hannaford recalls select items over listeria concerns
Hannaford Supermarkets has recalled select fresh salads and pasta meals that were available for sale between Sept. 23 and Oct. 1, following a notification from the manufacturer of potential Listeria contamination.
The items were sold at the produce and deli departments of the grocery store chain, according to a written statement released Wednesday from Hannaford Supermarkets. The supermarket chain stated there have been no reports of illness or injury.
The products recalled include Fiesta Salad with Chicken, Cobb Salad with Chicken and Bacon, Ceasar Salad with Chicken, Ceasar Salad with Chicken and Bacon, BLT salad with Chicken, Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken, and Fettuccini Alfred with Chicken Family Meal.
If customers purchased these items, they can be returned to their local Hannaford for a full refund, according to the press release.

Listeria is a bacteria that can contaminate food and can cause illness to people who consume it, according to the USDA. Listeria thrives in cool, damp environments.
People who eat food contaminated can get an illness called listeriosis, according to the USDA. Those who are most at risk for contracting listeriosis are pregnant people and their newborns, adults 65 and older, and people with compromised immune systems. Symptoms of listeriosis include fatigue, muscle aches, confusion, headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions.
