Federal grant funds runway improvements at Biddeford airport

BIDDEFORD —Improvements to the runway at Biddeford Municipal Airport underway, thanks to a federal grant.

Earlier this year, the city was awarded a $7.5 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The grant will be used for projects city officials say will enhance airport safety and assist the airport in complying with FAA standards. The work includes reconstructing the runway, improving runway safety areas and drainage and preparation of a stormwater pollution plan for compliance with stormwater standards.

The cost of the work will be completely covered by the FAA grant.
