SACO — Eric Trump addressed hundreds of his father’s fans at the Camp Ellis Pier on Thursday afternoon.

Eric Trump was stumping for President Donald Trump in a campaign stop dubbed “Make America Great Again! Event - Fighting for Maine Lobster with Eric Trump.”

Seth Dube, a sixth-generation lobsterman from Camp Ellis, said there had been many changes in the seaside community over his lifetime. Dube said that he knew of ground fisherman and people in the shrimp fishery who were regulated out of business and were forced to find other jobs to support their families.

“We can’t let the same thing happen to the Maine lobster industry,” he said.

Dube said the Trump Administration was a driving force to protect the fishing industry against unfair tariffs and Maine can now compete with Canada in the global lobster market.

Dube said he voted for Donald Trump in 2016, and he’s voting for him a second time in November.

Eric Trump stood at a podium with a backdrop of moored boats and took pot shots at the Democrats and his father’s competitor, saying Joe Biden had “never once signed a paycheck.” Eric Trump told the crowd that the local fisherman had worked more by 5 a.m. of a typical day than Biden had the last two weeks. The comment received roars of applause.

Trump also praised law enforcement officers and criticized the left for not respecting family values or the nuclear family.

Eric Trump also gave a shout out to former governor Paul Lepage, whom he said was a good friend of his father.

LePage was in attendance on Thursday, and upon arrival he was greeted by fans who asked him if he was running for governor in 2022, and he told them he was.

Eric Trump also took shots at the media which he implied was biased toward Biden, saying that “the media has set such a low bar, that if the guy is still breathing when he comes off stage, they’re going to declare it a wonderful victory for Biden.”

Eric Trump said his father recently presided over a peace agreement between Israel and Arab nation, and the next day, a national news story didn’t focus on this historic event, but rather that his father and other leaders weren’t wearing face masks.

Eric Trump urged attendees to vote, and appeared confident that his father would win in November.

“What I promise you is this. We as a family will never let you down,” he said.
