BIDDEFORD — There will be no more Grand Slams served in Biddeford. The Denny’s restaurant has closed.

The national chain restaurant opened a location in a former Ruby Tuesday’s building at Mailhot Plaza 45 Boulder Way in 2019.

A sign on the door of the restaurant states it is closed temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but a notice on the local Denny’s Facebook page tells a different story.

The restaurant stated on its social media page today that “a tough business decision” was made, and that the Denny’s restaurants in Biddeford and Ellsworth were closed permanently.

The post received many comments from customers.

“That is sad sad sad day,” said one commenter.

A customer service representative for the national chain confirmed over the phone that the restaurants were closed permanently.

Denny’s restaurants serve diner-style food 24 hours a day. The restaurant is known for its hearty breakfast fare, including combination meals called “slams” that typically include eggs and meat with pancakes or potatoes. The restaurants also serve dinners, hamburgers, salads and other items.
