A Connecticut man died in a motorcycle crash on the highway in Biddeford on Friday.

Maine State Troopers responded to the area of mile marker 32 southbound on the Maine Turnpike for a motorcycle crash around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, according to a press release from Shannon Moss, public safety officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

The initial police investigation showed that Zachary Swain, 21, of Connecticut, was leaving the highway and failed to negotiate the curve in the I-95 southbound off-ramp, said Moss. Swain struck the guardrail and was thrown from his motorcycle.

Rescue workers pronounced Swain dead on the scene, said Moss.

The Maine Turnpike off-ramp in Biddeford was closed for two hours Friday evening while the crash was investigated, said Moss.

The Biddeford Fire Department, Maine Turnpike Authority and Ray’s Truck Service assisted with the investigation and the re-opening of the ramp.
