Chipotle, Jersey Mike's to open next year in Saco

SACO — Two fast casual restaurants are scheduled to open on Route One in Saco in the coming year.

In April, the city’s planning board approved a site plan to allow developer Saco Retail Management LLC to replace a former Pizza Hut building 507 Main St (Route One) with a 5,400 square foot multi-unit commercial building. The building will house a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant with a drive-through window, a walk-in only Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurant, and another business.

Since then, the former Pizza Hut building was torn down and work on the new building is in progress.

The Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurant is expected to open in February, said Jersey Mike’s Subs spokesman Kyle Potvin in an email.

Chipotle Mexican Grill spokeswoman Erin Wolford said in an email that she did not have a specific date for the Chipotle in Saco, but it is expected to open in late winter or early spring.

Saco currently does not have either a Chipotle or Jersey Mike’s restaurant. Jersey Mike’s has five locations in Maine – Auburn, Bangor, Brunswick, Scarborough and Windham. Chipotle also has five restaurants in Maine –  Auburn, Bangor, Portland, South Portland and Westbrook.
