OLD ORCHARD BEACH — A child was reportedly injured on a ride at Palace Playland amusement park on Saturday evening.

The Old Orchard Beach Fire Department responded to a call at Palace Playland around 6 p.m. on Saturday, according to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Shannon Moss.

A 10-year-old boy was reportedly injured during an incident on the Superstar ride at the amusement park, said Moss.  Public safety officers found the child conscious and alert, and he was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Moss. The boy’s name was not released in the press statement and Moss said at the time of publication it was unknown where he was from.

Investigators from the Maine State Fire Marshal’s office arrived at Palace Playland on Saturday night to investigate the incident and inspect the Superstar ride. The ride passed inspection, said Moss.

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the series of events that led to the child’s injuries, said Moss.

Palace Playland is a seasonal amusement park with several rides, games of chance, food stands, and an arcade  located at 1 Old Orchard St., alongside the beach in downtown Old Orchard Beach.
