SACO — C.K. Burns Principal Timothy Kane has resigned, effective at the end of the fiscal year.

Kane notified Superintendent of Schools Dominic DePatsy of his resignation in an April 2 email and gave a signed copy of the letter to the Superintendent’s office.

In the brief email, Kane said he was leaving June 30, the date his present contract expires.

“It has been a pleasure to work with you here in the Saco School Department. Your work ethic and insight has greatly enhanced this school district,” said Kane in the resignation letter.

DePatsy responded to Kane’s email, expressing his gratitude for Kane’s service to the district.

“Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the Saco School Department. I wish you well in your future endeavors,” said DePatsy in the email to Kane.

Kane did not respond to an email inquiry be press time.

Kane was hired  in 2017 as the principal for C.K. Burns School, serving students in grades 3-5. Prior to that, he was the superintendent/principal of MSAD #24 in Van Buren. Education was a second career for Kane, who is a retired New Hampshire State Trooper, according to a 2017 press release from the Saco School Department.

School Board to vote on temporary Superintendent

The school board is slated at an emergency meeting Tuesday night to appoint someone to fill-in the position of Superintendent of Schools through the end of the fiscal year. Current Superintendent of Schools Dominic Depatsy has resigned, effective no later than April 20, according to an agreement made with the School Board last month.

The school board is also moving forward with the hiring process for an interim superintendent for the next school year. This process, by law, has to be done separately.
