BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford Saco Old Orchard Beach Transit Committee has hired Chad Heid of Schenectady, New York as the new executive director of transit.
Heid replaces Tony Scavuzzo, who left the position in March.
Heid brings with him over 13 years of transit experience and is currently the manager of service planning for the Capital District Transportation Authority in Albany, New York. He is expected to begin his new position on July 21, according to a press release from Biddeford Saco Old Orchard Beach Transit.
“I could not be more excited to announce Mr. Heid as transit’s new executive director and look forward to his working with staff, the committee, and area interests to best serve the Biddeford, Saco, and Old Orchard Beach region,” said Greg Tansley, chairman of the Biddeford Saco Old Orchard Beach Transit Committee in a written statement.
Tansley said the Heid impressed the committee with enthusiasm, experience, and a commitment to transit and the people and businesses that rely on it.
Heid said in a written statement that he is excited for the opportunity to lead BSOOB Transit. He said he is looking forward to advancing the role of transit in the region and is encouraged by the growth and development in
Biddeford, Saco, and Old Orchard Beach.
“I’m eager to start building relationships with stakeholders and developing an understanding of the needs of the community,” he said.
When not on the job, Heid plans to explore with his family the transit district by travelling on the year-round bus lines and summer trolley.
“There’s much to learn about this region and there’s no better way than to experience it firsthand,” he said.
